GINGIVITIS AND PERIODONTITIS
Gingivitis is an inflammation or infection of the gums.
Causes:
The main cause of gingivitis is the failure to remove plaque. Plaque is made up of microscopic bacteria, viruses and parasites that can attack the gums, causing inflammation.
Prevention:
Daily dental hygiene, which includes brushing and flossing after every meal;
Regular dental exams, every 6 months;
Regular dental scaling and cleaning, every 6 months.
